During the summer months, Gatineau’s daily consumption of potable water increases by 100 litres per person. That number represents a huge management cost of more than $40,000/day to cover the cost of production, infrastructure and treatment, according to the city’s figures. In 2015, Gatineau reported that the average consumption of treated water per person per day was 407 litres.
The Quebec average was 589 litres per person and the Canadian average was 466 litres. (AR)
