LETTER
LETTRE
Municipal politics is a joke on us
I was interested to read Bob McDougall's letter (Nov. 23) regarding feeling he was misled by Councilor Steven Boivin.
I turned to M. Boivin for insight and support about yet another monstrous build in Wychwood for which no permits were acquired until after they cut mature trees down and started construction. I also asked him to ensure all building by-laws were being adhered to, as I was led to believe there are height restrictions and lot/building ratios in place.
All communication with the Councilor has been less than satisfactory, with no conclusion as of yet. Meanwhile, the developer has completed the monster home in record time. What is the point of an urban planning tool or the hard work of the Les Amis de Wychwood to maintain the neighbourhood's trees and architectural harmony, if all can be so easily waived or simply ignored?
To make matters more time-consuming and complicated, as an anglophone, I am not entitled to any communication regarding the rules and regulations of the city in English, yet I pay my taxes like everyone else. Poor service all around.
