Postal strike legislation
Thank you for your recent editorial keeping the issue of postal service alive. We have family members working for Canada Post and the federal government should not have stopped the strike. What is the point of having unions and paying union dues, if employees are not able to strike when it is required? The government allows unions, but doesn’t allow them to exercise union rights?
What if it was not the post office, but Public Service Employees who have at least 15 days of sick leave, 15 days of vacation, doctor appointments, plus all their benefits. The federal government is saying employees of the Post Office do not have a right to bargain for similar benefits, which the government sees fit to give its own employees?
Please keep this issue alive by giving postal workers another venue to keep their voice alive -- and for justice and their rights to prevail.
