Cannabis and travelling abroad
Will you spend the holidays abroad? Despite the fact that cannabis is now legal and regulated for adults in Canada, it remains illegal to transport cannabis across the Canadian border.
This prohibition applies: a) even if you are authorized to use cannabis for medical purposes; b) no matter how much cannabis you have with you; and c) even if you are travelling to or from an area where cannabis has been legalized or decriminalized
Not declaring cannabis in your possession at the Canadian border is a serious criminal offence. You could face arrest and prosecution. Don’t ruin your holiday season!
