CPAWS celebrates 50 years
The Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-OV) will celebrate its 50th anniversary on November 14 with a special dinner and Soiree in Ottawa. CPAWS-OV has played a lead role in protecting many of the natural areas in our region, including such iconic places as Algonquin Park, the Dumoine River, Gatineau Park and the Greenbelt. During the recent election campaign, CPAWS-OV secured the support of a number of candidates for increasing the protection afforded to Gatineau Park.
The evening will feature Indigenous leader and educator, Gilbert Whiteduck, who will speak about the future of conservation in the region, especially as it relates to Indigenous communities leading efforts to conserve lands and waters.
