$1,500 grant for Mariners
At the end of August, the Association de Hockey Senior les Anciens Mariners received a $1,500 grant from the Ville de Gatineau for ice fees from September to December 2019.
The association is composed of Aylmer seniors who are looking for common recreational activities to keep fit, promote socialization and fight against the isolation of seniors. As a result, the association is recognized by the municipality as a “seniors’ recreational circle” allowing them to obtain a grant related to the recognition of the “Age-Friendly Municipality”.
In 2009, Gatineau became involved in the Age-Friendly Municipality initiative and its certification was renewed in 2018. Because of this recognition, Gatineau must promote active aging. It is in this sense that Gatineau provides grants to various associations such as the Association de Hockey Senior les Anciens Mariners. (BA)
