A heart-warming gift to our veterans for Christmas
On December 1, 2020, Manon Fleury, representing the Aylmer Legion Branch 33 Knitting Group, presented 43 beautiful blankets to the Perley-Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. Each blanket was accompanied by an "Izzy" doll, these comfort dolls were knitted with love and compassion by volunteers from the Aylmer Legion Knitting Group. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic circumstances and to ensure the safety of veterans, we were unable to hand over donations directly to the residents this year, with the blankets and dolls having to be quarantined prior to Christmas. With the cooperation of the management and care team at The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre Foundation, blankets and dolls will be distributed to Veterans just in time for Christmas. The Aylmer Legion wishes to thank the Knitting Group volunteers for their generosity and tremendous work in making lap blankets and Izzy comfort dolls. Thanks to your magical fingers, our veterans will receive a beautiful warm gift for Christmas. Thank you all!
