----- Algonquins on La Vérendrye moose
The first meeting between representatives of the Algonquin Nation and the Government of Quebec on the issue of moose herd management in the La Vérendrye wildlife reserve held just before the holiday break allowed the representatives of the two parties to take stock and initiate the first discussions.
The meeting was an opportunity for the representatives of the two parties to introduce themselves and establish everyone's expectations on how the discussions should be held and to agree on a timetable for the holding of the next meetings during the which the main subject will be discussed.
Lucien Wabanonik, councilor and member of the Lac Simon community, as well as Charles Ratt, councilor and representatives of the community of the Algonquin of Barrière Lake, will be the two negotiators for the Algonquin Nation on this file.
We hope that these discussions will lead to a new relationship with the Government of Quebec and we place our trust in the work of our representatives.
