LETTER
---- As to Ian Barrett's recent editorial
Fellow Aylmerites! There is a huge discrepancy between the volume of condos being constructed and the road infrastructure for commuters from Aylmer. (There's a 3-hour commute for my husband heading into West Ottawa, no matter what transportation he chooses).
The town hall (Place de pionniers), a structurally sound 35 year-old building (I was 13 when it went up), will now be demolished to the tune of 50M$ for tax-payers, despite a proposal to improve the existing structure and save 30M$! Like several other structures being built in Aylmer it will be full of glass walls -- sure to kill migrating birds each year. I know a woman who used to teach at the old school building in Aylmer that is now being overgrown by condos. I'm certain that she would have liked the city to have included some parking for the church that she also attends just across the street from the school.
And now the green corridor -- the only route between the Gatineau Hills and the river for wild life -- is also slated for massive construction. What is happening here?
