Aylmer dances with the best
Another great competitive season for the SDD Competitive Dance Team has come to an end. The Studio de Danse Danielle competitive dancers are comprised of 120 talented kids ranging in age from 5-19. The studio houses 2 levels of competition, the pre-competitive level for dancers training under 6 hours a week, and full time competitive dancers who trains over and above 8 hours per week. The dancers prepare all season with rigorous technique classes and choreography sessions with a team of teachers who are beyond compare. The studio invites outside choreographers to provide the more advanced dancers with a variety of styles and experiences so that they are prepared to have a career in dance after their training at SDD if they so choose.
The dance team competed at 3 regional competitions and 1 finals competition in Orlando Florida. First, at Fever International Dance Challenge not only did the team win multiple overalls in the Novice, Pre-Competitive, and Competitive divisions “Monkey Crew” took 3rd place and “Please, Please Stay” took 2nd in the Junior Dance off and in the Senior Dance off the contemporary routine” Not You, Not I, Not Us” finished 2nd place. The dancers then participated at the Candance competition where the team once again brought home many overall awards, and placed 3rd in the Junior Diamond Dance Off for “Monkey Crew” and 2nd in the Senior Diamond Dance-off for “Hide & Seek”. Finishing off at Shine Dance Competition the team brought home the 3 most prestigious titles of the competition, The Highest Score of the entire Competition, The Ultimate Shine Award, and the Ultimate Shine Studio Award. The dancers were thrilled!
The studio was then preparing for stiff competition at Candance Nationals in Orlando Florida. The full-time team would not only compete at the national level, but 10 of their elite soloists would be competing for Title as well. Camille Bisson, Zachary Bastille, Rayna Sierra Branco, Nickolas Branco, Mélyna Éburne, Chloé Gerard, Alexandre Guillot, Anisa Saouab, Émilie Potié, & Emanuelle Proulx would be participating in title competition alongside the best of the best from all over North America.
The National event proved to be a tough competition but the dancers definitely held their own. The team qualified for the Dance-Off in the solo and group division with 7 routines. The SDD senior dancers won 2nd Overall Small Group with the routine “Not You, Not I, Not Us” in the 13 & Up age Division.
To top off the amazing dance experience in Orlando out of the 10 dancers mentioned above 3 dancers placed in the top five for title. Camille Bisson placed 4th runner up in the Junior Miss division for her elegant lyrical solo “Turning Page”, Anisa Saouab placed 2nd runner up in the Senior Miss division for her unbelievable tap solo “Say My Name” and the icing on the cake was when SDD’s own male dancer Nickolas Branco won Senior Mister Candance. He is the first dancer at Studio de Danse Danielle to win title at the national level. The entire SDD team made all the faculty and parents proud this season, and they look forward to the new season coming up.
