Did you say Griffons?
Brigitte Mainville
Yes, this is the name for all of the Cégep de l'Outaouais sports teams. I wish to bring you up to date about the football team especially. Their Head Coach for the last 3 years has been Sébastien Tétreault (he knows first hand the qualities required for football, being himself an accomplished player in his day). Last year, the Griffons had a perfect season in division 3 of the RSEQ. They unfortunately lost in the last game of the playoffs, the coveted Bol d'Or (the collegial Grey Cup).
This year, they are playing in division 2. Their first game was at Mont-Bleu stadium on August 27th. They were facing the finalists of last year's division 2 at the Bol d'Or, the Lionel Groulx Nordiques. They lost 25 to 8. They were not at their best, jitters probably being a factor, their timing seemed off at times.
Since that time, they have met some of the strongest teams in Division 2 and have demonstrated that they do indeed belong in this division, winning all 4 games! Yes, they now stand at 4 wins and 1 loss. It has not been easy but they prevailed.
This coming weekend, they will meet the Edouard Montpetit Lynx. The Lynx were in division 1 last year and will be be a formidable opponent. The Griffons are also holding the "soirée des anciens" at the same time, honoring the former players of the last 10 years. Yes, the Griffons are 11 years young, young but feisty!
You can come cheer on the Griffons at the game that will take place at Mont-Bleu stadium on Saturday, October 1st, at 7h pm. Admission is $8.for adults and $5. for students. GO GRiFFONS!
