Endotherms
Many of the animals in Parc Deschênes are endothermic: hares, squirrels, beavers and many others.
Your pets, dogs and cats, are too.
Humans, like most mammals and some birds, are also endothermic. This means that they can naturally produce their own body heat as a result of their very active metabolism.
As a result, their bodies are able to maintain a relatively constant internal temperature, whatever the outside temperature. It has a complex thermal regulation system that keeps it at around 37 degrees Celsius. Shivering and sweating are reactions that occur to regulate its internal temperature when its body becomes too cold or too hot.
Endothermic animals are known as warm-blooded animals.
