------  Excess-wealth tax?

 

A recent report by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) found that a “1% tax on wealth over $20 million in Canada would generate about $10 billion in revenue in its first year”.  That would amount to $200 000 for someone worth $20 million, a drop in the bucket.  Recent polling found overwhelming public support  across party lines, with 8 in 10 Canadians in favour.
