Follow the tracks...
For the first time, the Alliance organised a joint activity with the Friends of Gatineau Park on Sunday 23 February to follow the tracks of animals in the Deschênes forest and gain a better understanding of the links between animals and their habitats, especially in this year's truly wintry conditions.
Guided by Carolyn Cahill, a volunteer with the Friends of Gatineau Park who has been interested in tracking wildlife for some fifteen years, participants learned a great deal about the habits of animals and their movements in winter.
Take a close look at the photo. Guess whose tracks we saw most frequently?
They were, of course, those of the black squirrel looking for acorns under the snow.
Now it's your turn to explore the forest and try to identify the other animals that move around here in winter.
