Front Street lot sold to neighbours as city puts order in the cadasters
Sophie Demers
A vacant strip of land on Front Street in Aylmer is being sold by Gatineau – Lot 2 884 994 of the Cadastre of Quebec located between 61 and 63 Front Street. The lot has no conventional market value and cannot be developed on its own due to lack of space. The lot has a surface area of 181.40 m2.
This lot is a part of the former Douglas Street that was situated between John and Front Streets. Apart from a portion of the former railway corridor, all other parcels of land were transferred in the early 1980s by the former City of Aylmer, except for the lot that is currently being sold.
According to city documents, sheds located at 63 Front have been encroaching on this strip of land for years. To rectify the situation, the owners of 63 Front have expressed their interest in buying the land from the city.
Gatineau is selling the land to the neighbours for $100 plus GST and QST, if applicable. All relevant Gatineau municipal departments were consulted and are in favour of the sale.
