----- Impressed with hospital care
With all the negative publicity the Hull/Gatineau hospital has received recently I would like to offer a positive note. Recently diagnosed with breast cancer, I have been impressed with the care I have received over the past months. The nursing staff have been most pleasant, serving me in English without comment, even having one person apologize for her less than perfect English, (unnecessarily). One would never know that the nurses and support staff are overworked and underpaid. They are 100% professional and we are blessed to have them still on the job.
Is the system perfect? No. There is always room for improvement and I would have been happier if the treatment timeline was tighter but we are in a pandemic and I am not in a life threatening position at this time. So many people around the world would gladly trade places with Canadians for their access to the health care.
We do not live in a medical TV program where is seems staff and money are not an issue. We do not have a system where if you can pay you will be served first. We need to be realistic in our expectations from the health care system. We need to balance our expectations with the resources, public (tax) funding, that is available.
Thank you, to all hospital staff.
