Intensification in Wychwood
Is there an update on the mature white pines slated for destruction at the top of Pine Street and the round log house that is to be demolished for development?
I also wondering about the by-laws in place for the dividing of lots, destruction of small cottages (homes) only to be replaced by towering urban monstrosities e.g. at the corner of Arbutus and Pine. More healthy pines will be destroyed because of this intensification in Wychwood.
May I suggest that the "2-story maximum" of new builds be addressed? They can end up with above-ground "basements" that actually create 3-story homes incongruent to the original and to new builds that blend into the neighbourhood.
A stipulation needs to be made to enforce height restrictions, based on the height of the neighboring homes on either side of these building sites -- versus the above-mentioned manipulation of the rules.
Wychwood looks progressively like it has sold out to developers regardless of the good work Les amis de Wycwood does to protect it.
