Local pickup hockey league looking for new faces

A co-ed Outaouais pickup hockey league wants to add new faces to its roster.
“I look forward to (hockey) every day,” said organizer Vern Dupuis.
The Aylmerite has been organizing hour-long pickup games for close to a year now and has been hooked ever since.
Dupuis hopes to have more community members reliving their former glory by lacing up their skates and hitting the ice on the weekends.
Dubbed Pink Panther’s Pickup Hockey, the league is open to both male and female players aged 16 or older. The cost per player is $20 and full equipment is required.
“Anybody is welcome as long as they can skate,” said Dupuis.
The league plays every Saturday at the Cholette Arena from 10 pm to 11 pm and Sundays at the Frank-Robinson Arena at the same time.
The teams vary as attendees are divided into opposing teams prior to the games.
Dupuis said violence would not be tolerated in any form.
“There’s no body checking or intentionally hurting people. It’s for fun, it’s not competitive.”
