---- New poll: no snap election
I have just read a new poll by Abacus polling (Toronto) which shows a real upheaval underway in the Canadian electorate. A month ago, the Liberals showed a remarkable 11% lead, and there was serious talk about a quick election call; today's poll results lower that 11% down to only 2%. And not so much talk about a cynical election call now!
That cynicism is something the Liberals can't shake off -- from the WE charity to allowing corporate friends "free" access to a locked-down Canada, their rejection of the popular call for higher taxes for the extreme wealthiest and the feds stunning inability to close tax-haven loopholes -- we see that even in the worst circumstances of our nation's life, the governing parties can't bring themselves to threaten anything which might upset the wealthy. Nothing new there, this seems true everywhere.
And there is my alarm. How long will we, so-called intelligent voters, keep switching our support from Tweddle-dee to Tweddle-dum, and then back again?
Today's poll numbers are very encouraging since they indicate the voters are finally paying attention. But only to those two dumb choices! I don't blame only the big media; the planning and strategy people in the "other" parties seem incapable of adventuresome thinking and understanding public relations within a market-based system.
