As the Omicron variant emerges, the Quebec government has announced different measures. One of them is the revamping of the “Je contribue” campaign, which has contributed to Quebec's vaccination campaign. The campaign was initiated in the wake of the first wave of COVID-19, in which the provincial government called upon health professionals in order to contribute to the vaccination campaign against the virus. At the initial stage of the campaign, it gathered up to 16,000 people from different health professions from pharmacists to hygienists.
“We have received 1,500 applications for the Je contribue campaign so far and we are sorting the ones that are qualified,” said Premier Legault. “I am inviting all competent Quebecers to register on the Quebec.ca in the Je contribue section and provide their name on the platform” added Legault. The Public Health Minister, Christian Dubé indicated that starting December 20, people who are 65-years-old will be eligible to make an appointment for the third dose and from December 27 60 year old and above will be eligible. “If we are able to accelerate the campaign with the help of “Je contribue” campaign it will go faster” added Dubé. He also hinted on the possible contribution of medical specialists in the campaign.
“When we look at the addition of Je contribue campaign, medical specialists, pharmacists and others, it’s possible to vaccinate 800,000 people per week” said Dubé, during the press conference that was held in the presence of Premier Francois Legault and Horracio Arruda, National Director of Public Health and Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Health and Social Services for Quebec.
The campaign is seeking candidates that will help in the vaccination activities, by administering vaccines and mix substances, and for contact tracing and investigation.
