The ACCES Volunteer Action Centre innovates to help seniors stay at home longer
For over 40 years, and with a great team of volunteers, Access Volunteer action Centre has been offering services for seniors in the community: Daily activities for seniors from Tuesday to Friday (French and English groups); transportation to medical appointments for seniors; friendship calls and visits; help filling out forms; tax clinics for Aylmer residents; and a support and referral service for vulnerable seniors.
We recently launched a new program: the SecuriCAB program. This is a free automated call service for seniors to ensure their well-being in their homes. It also reminds seniors to take their medication and/or meals.
SecuriCAB was created by and for the Fédération des Centre d’action bénévoles du Québec for its member volunteer centres in Québec. This service helps seniors stay at home for as long as possible with peace of mind with the help of automated calls to ensure their well-being.
Calls are made at the time agreed with the subscriber. If the user does not respond, steps are taken with the designate neighbour or family member to check in on the senior. If no contact is made with the senior, an emergency call is made to the local police.
This bilingual service is completely free and accessible to all seniors who wish to benefit from it. To take advantage of it, simply contact the ACCES Volunteer Centre by calling 819-682-2242 from Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or by writing an email to transport@cabacces.ca .
The Access Volunteer Centre is a place where the people of Aylmer can help their neighbours by volunteering. If you have time to volunteer, feel free to check out the volunteer opportunities on their website at www.cabacces.ca.
