Aylmer helping Aylmer: Food Centre at the heart of community

The Aylmer Food Centre and the Partenaires du secteur Aylmer hosted the second edition of their open-doors event on Saturday, August 29, at 61 and 67 Rue du Couvent. The goal of the event was to showcase the wide range of community resources available to Aylmer residents.

In a festive atmosphere, visitors had the opportunity to explore the vast array of services and programs offered by the Aylmer Food Centre, as well as meet its partner businesses and organizations. Representatives of approximately 20 of these organizations were present, including Localeaf, the Alzheimer Society of Outaouais, and the Boucher Forest Foundation, to name a few.

“The open-doors event was designed to show people that we are here for them, and also to highlight the wide array of resources available to them,” said Mercedes D’Trinidad, Acting Executive Director and Director of Programs at the Aylmer Food Centre. This second edition differed from the first in several ways, notably with the addition of activities for children, who enjoyed an inflatable structure, giant board games, and a face-painting station. However, the most significant change was the introduction of a new format encouraging visitors to stroll from kiosk to kiosk and collect a stamp at each one for a chance to win one of the gift baskets offered by the Aylmer Food Centre.

“When everyone gets involved, this energy pays off and greatly contributes to the success of our events,” stated D’Trinidad.
