Welcome to Outaouais Newspaper App

• Our Newspaper sources are the Bulletin D’Aylmer, and its three sister newspapers, West Quebec Post, Bulletin de Gatineau, Pontiac Journal
• The app opens with a search bar at the top, for searching stories titles only
• The search results display only the results with the search words in the story title
• Below the search bar is the story category title, the app opens in new stories category
• The gear icon opens the menu for setting up your preferences for story languages, newspaper sources, story categories, order the categories are displayed in, story notifications for each paper and category
• The preview for each story has an image, title, category, author, dated and time story published
• Clicking on the story preview opens the story, at the top of the screen is a back button and a share story button
• The footer for the app has a browser story category button to help you get to a category without needing to scroll through all the new stories
• Stories are removed from the app after 30 days
• For accessing stories older than 30 days please visit the website for the paper with the story that interests you.
• Any Ads appearing in a story are from the paper the story was published in

Language selection, stories are published in French and English you select which languages you want to see stories in

Story categories include; Local News, Council, Buildings and Developments, Arts and Culture, Local Events, Sports, Provincial Politics, Nature. Local Photographs, Dogs of Aylmer, Kids’ Corner, Letters to the Editor, Opinion Writers, Classified Ads, Community Voices, Education & Schools, Healthy Living

• Languages - select if you would like French and or English stories
• Source – select which of the four papers you would like to see stories from
• Categories – select the stories categories for the stories you would like to see, arrange the order your category stories are display in 
• Notifications – you can turn on or off notification for each source and category
• Share button to share stories
• Search function that searches stories titles based on the words you type in the search field
• Browse Categories button to open the category list to view stories in a specific category

Begins with the intention for our app, to provide a phone and tablet app for our customers who prefer reading stories from our 4 papers on their phone, or tablet instead of paper, or our website. Sharing stories that provide a ground understanding for the concerns and interesting topics in our communities to help our customers understanding the nuances of the concerns, become involved in them, in a manger that sparks connection, confidence, appreciation for our communities and the people living in them.

Information we collect while you interacting with the app, why we collect it

• We count the number of times a story gets click on to open the story and read it
• We count the number of times a story gets shared
• Both stories and share clicks are counted anonymously to help us understand what is interesting to our customers as a group. Knowing what each person clicks on would not be helpful for our intention, as we write for our community, not individuals or groups of individuals. We want to create stories that help people see what they have in common, not what makes them different.
• We create a trend report listing all our stories during the last 30 days, with the number of times each story was clicked on or shared
• The trend report helps us understand what is relevant to our customers, if our refinements to story writing, story topics, categories, new ideas for types of information to make available in the app is helping us advance our standard for excellence, by remaining relevant to our customers and communities

Information we do not collect from your interacting with the app and why

• We do not ask for any of your contact or personal information
• We collect no personal information about you in order to have the app on your phone, tablet, or to interact with the app
• We do not collect information on app menu selections for language, source, categories or notifications
• We do not collect information to create a profile for the stories you click on, share, or the ad images in stories you click on
• The reason for this is our standard for our app interactions is you open the app, find what matters most to you in 3 to 5 seconds, read the story in 2 minutes or less to than get on with your day by enjoying what matters most for you to be caring towards in a manner that sparks confidence

• We will let you know if we make any changes to our privacy policy, tell why we made those changes to our privacy policy
