Aylmer’s Girl Guides make their advance
The Girl Guides advancement ceremony moves young Girl Guides forward on their guiding journey. Every school year, dozens of girls aged 5-17 from the Aylmer area participate in weekly meetings -- Sparks (ages 5-6), Brownies (ages 7-8), Guides (9-11), Pathfinders (12-14) and Rangers (15-17). They earn merit badges while learning about friendship, the environment, ways to participate in their communities, and expanding their capacity to change. Participants share their sisterhood through bonding experiences like camping, sleepovers, and by meeting various challenges together. Congratulations will go to all those who “jump the fire” (or toadstool), as is the Girl Guide tradition for advancing to the next level, and to the Pathfinders and Rangers as they continue their journey.
