Aylmer Summer activities: pick-up volleyball at the beach for all ages
Greg Newing
Every Thursday and Friday from 5 pm to 9 pm residents and visitors to Aylmer can enjoy a match of pick-up volleyball at Parc des Cèdres beach near the Aylmer Marina. This free activity is organized by the Aylmer Friends of the Marina Association and is open to all ages and experience levels. Teams will be formed on site, and anyone is welcome to join in an ongoing match. Gilles Pelletier from the Friends of the Marina Association explained that this activity aims to encourage everyone regardless of their experience with the sport to come and enjoy a healthy summer activity with others, “the idea is that people can come to play, enjoy themselves, and improve.” Pelletier also noted that sometimes multiple nets are set up depending on the number of people interested on a given day and the range of experience.
Volleyball will be available at the beach every Thursday to Friday from July to early September provided the weather is good. If you are interested in playing, head down to the beach and look for a volleyball net with the “Les Amis de la Marina” sign attached to it or talk to Gilles, who will be at the beach Thursday and Friday evenings. It is also possible to play on the weekend provided five or more players are interested. If you would like to play on the weekend or would like further information about this activity, email the Friends of the Marina Association at: lesamisdelamarinadaylmer@gmail.com or contact the Association on its Facebook page.
