Cinderella story for the Griffons girls’ volleyball team
The girls’ Griffons Cégep de l’Outaouais volleyball team had its own version of a Cinderella story on the weekend of February 23-25 at their provincial championships. They walked away with a bronze medal.
In the quarterfinal match, they played the second best team, the Cavaliers de Bois-de-Boulogne, and won 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22) against them. The team lost in semifinals against the Boomerang d’André Laurendeau with a score of 3-1, then rallied in the finals against the first place team, the Lynx from the Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, and won (25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 25-22).
Éliane Tassé-Baby was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the bronze medal match.
It is the first medal performance by the Griffons girls’ volleyball team in collegial level division 1. The coach is Danny Da Costa.
