--City to consult residents on recreational development plan
Updating its recreational, sporting and community infrastructure development plan, the city of Gatineau is inviting local residents to share their best ideas and their most preoccupying concerns and to learn more about the subject during an upcoming online public consultation. According to a press release issued by the city on October 5, the consultation will take place between October 26 and November 8 in the form of various citizen cafés. Desiring to see the plan updated “for and by the public”, the city noted that the consultation’s theme will be “Otherwise, to build in our image”.
It will notably be an opportunity for local residents, organizations and community partners to play direct roles in reshaping how Gatineau plans its development of recreational infrastructure for the next 10 years.
More specifically participants will be able to comment on the multi-usage and versatility of spaces, their accessibility and the recreational experience they provide. Noting that the consultation’s results will be unveiled in December, the plan is intended to direct the city through recreational infrastructure development by supporting and simplifying the planning of projects and investments. The city expects to table its recreational, sporting and community infrastructure development plan in 2021.
