Apart from a couple of details on the outside, the Constance Provost building construction is complete! Aylmer Councillor Vincent Roy confirms that the construction contractor has officially passed the building to the city. Gatineau is currently setting up the inside with furniture and equipment. Soon they will start moving the Lucy-Faris Library and Aylmer Service Centre into the new building. The building is scheduled for an official opening in the spring.
“My vision is that the new building becomes what the old building was, a community hub. Everyone will be able to appreciate the space,” said Roy.
Once the library and service centre move to the new building, there will be a large space left in Galeries Aylmer. Roy reassures residents that this space will not go to waste. During the last election campaign, Action Gatineau announced an agreement between the Galeries Aylmer and Unigym for the use of the space. Unigym is a local non-profit sports club with a focus on gymnastics.
