Création Danse Canadienne Holds Open House

Création Danse Canadienne held an open house at their studio on Saturday, August 15 to introduce this coming year's program. Students of the school performed every dance genre, and guests were also treated to a BBQ Lunch, with a bouncy castle for children. This event was also an opportunity to introduce Jessica Spirito as the new artistic director of the school. Having just completed the Teacher Training Program at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, she will be taking over for her mother, Teresa, who will still continue to work at the school. "It is often difficult to find schools that put a lot of emphasis on classical technique in the Gatineau area, which is why this year, I want to focus on strengthening our students' technique in classical ballet," says Spirito, while specifying that it is this traditional and sometimes grueling training that gives dancers more control of their bodies and the agility to excel in all dance styles. These styles include hip-hop, tap dance, breakdance, ballroom dancing, modern and jazz, all of which are taught at the school. Création Danse Canadienne also offers an intensive summer program as well as adult classes throughout the year.
