Four teenagers arrested for armed assault against other minors
The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) arrested four teenagers between the ages 15 and 18 for armed assaults against other minors on Wednesday August 4. The four young men are facing charges of assault with a weapon, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and drug trafficking.
One of the four teenagers arrested is considered to be the head of the drug trafficking network. The 17-year-old participated in acts of violence to intimidate other teenagers. The suspect allegedly beat and humiliated two 17-year-olds who were reselling cannabis and hashish as part of his cannabis trafficking network. Both victims were allegedly assaulted by the suspect and a few of his peers who were also taken into custody. The victims were also robbed by the suspects who took their cell phones, a leather bag, as well as expensive running shoes. The items stolen are valued at approximately $800 dollars.
The investigation is ongoing and police plan more arrests. There are possibly more victims that were targeted by the suspects. The SPVG warns young people about these arrests and asks that they stay vigilant especially if they wear high value items and expensive accessories as they become a target even if they are not involved in any illegal activity.
Parents are also invited to pay attention to what they teenagers are wearing to know if any items are of high value. A young person who wears shoes or clothes worth hundreds of dollars and does not have the means to purchase these items should raise suspicions. Police encourages the public to contact them with any information: 819-243-4636, option 5.
