Gatineau celebrates the work of Aylmer Volunteers at the Brunch des Bénévoles
The Brunch for Volunteers “Brunch des Bénévoles” took place in Aylmer at the Aydelu Centre on April 16. Organized by Gatineau to launch the Week for Volunteer Action, the event celebrated the work and dedication of local volunteers and the impact they have on the community.
The event gathered 140 volunteers and 31 Aylmer community organizations. Participants were served brunch, entertained by an Elvis impersonator, and participated in various activities.
“It was a wonderful activity,” said Geneviève D'Amours, Territorial Director of the Aylmer Service Centre. “Volunteers are a great asset for Aylmer. Without them it would be impossible to develop and execute all the various activities that animate our neighbourhoods and fulfill the needs of our community. They put countless hours of work into the community, are valued partners to the city and are immensely important.”
Gatineau Mayor France Bélisle addressed the participants during the event thanking them for their work. Many of the local councillors were also present, including Stevin Boivin (Aylmer), Gilles Chagnon (Lucerne), and Caroline Murray (Deschênes).
