Fridays for Future is mobilizing a global climate strike on March 19th 2021. Climate activists around the world continue to demand immediate and ambitious climate actions from leaders in response to the climate emergency.
Between 2018 and 2020, we saw a wave of Climate Emergency Declarations emerge around the world, including the Quebec National Assembly and the Canadian House of Commons. It’s five years since the Paris Agreement was signed, and while the world heats up and weather-related disasters continue around the world, political climate action remains status quo.
Our demands : a) Immediately reinforce and strengthen the social safety net so that it is sustainable over the long term. b) Cancel all projects that would produce high levels of greenhouse gases, notably GNL Quebec and TMX, the Trans Mountain Pipeline. Leave it in the ground! c) Abandon our dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear energy and transition to clean energy; solar and wind. d) Prioritize the protection of natural habitats and remaining global forests. e) Follow the QuebecZen's roadmap to get to net zero within this make or break decade.
Bring a sign and wear a mask.
