Gone too soon: A loving husband and father will be deeply missed by family and community
Marie-Eve Turpin and Mélissa Gélinas
Kevin MacDonald, a loving husband, devoted father and beloved member of the Aylmer community unexpectedly passed away on January 24 at the age of 44. For 15 years, he shared an unwavering love with his wife, Evelyn Daly. Together they had three children: Logan (10), Lena (8), and Alice (6).
Those who knew Kevin MacDonald know he was a family man. He took great pride in his kids – Logan, for his talent and sportsmanship; Lena, for her independence; and Alice, for her quirkiness. He also cherished his wife, jokingly claiming that he had leveled up by securing her affection, believing her to be out of his league. His phone is full of precious memories, videos, laughs, moments. Moments where no one was watching, moments for himself, not for credit or likes, but simply to cherish and relive.
Kevin was an affectionate man. He always had a hug to give or an arm for his girls to snuggle up in, even if it was for two at a time. He proudly kissed his wife in public and never shied away from holding her hand. Even when they went to the beach and he was carrying all the gear, water, towels, sunscreen, while pulling a wagon – he would still manage to find her hand.
His children knew that there was always time for a book or a story. In fact, he was on Book 6 of the Lord of the Rings, with every word read aloud for years to his son Logan before bed. Lena knew that her dad would push her on the swing for twice as long as anyone else could bear, and Alice would talk right up to his face while he sat, eyes crossed and smiling, listening to her tiny voice. Kevin had a light-hearted comfortableness about him; he was the kind of person you just wanted to be around.
He was just happy and made everyone around feel the same. Those who knew him are happy still – happy for a life that had him in it.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to ensure that Kevin’s wife Evelyn and three young children are supported during this incredibly difficult time and in the days and months to come. All donations will go directly to supporting them. To contribute, please go to the Kevin Macdonald memorial fund page on the GoFundMe platform.
