The Hockey Aylmer 30 plus league playoffs got underway on March 6 with a convincing 4-0 Brigil victory over East Motors. The six teams in the 30-plus division and the four other teams in the 40-plus division all played their first round-robin game on March 8 at the Frank Robinson Arena and at the Duchesnay Arena.
Teams are competing to finish in the top four positions during the round-robin to move on to the semi-finals. The favourites in the 30-plus division are Youngs Appliances, Chassé Séguin, Carrossier ProColor Aylmer and Subway. Youngs Appliances and Chassé Séguin both finished at the top the standings during the regular season with, respectively, 147 points and 145 points; this was a dozen points more than the third-place squad.
In the Aylmer 30-plus league, teams can accumulate a maximum of six points per game composed of two periods. Two points for winning a period and two for the win; ties are worth one point.
In the 40-plus division, the favourites to reach the semi-finals are Patate Loulou, Const. Réno, Brigil and East Motors. During the regular season, Patate Loulou and Const. Réno finished respectively first and second with 154 points and 153 points.
The semi-finals and finals for both divisions are scheduled for late March.
