Lucky clover!
Clover is a small herbaceous plant whose Latin name, Trifolium, means three leaflets. According to popular belief, the four-leaf clover, which is very rare, brings good luck to whoever finds it.
Fortunately, the humble three-leaf clover is very common along trails, in fields, and even in our lawns.
Bees gather nectar from the plant's small white or red flowers.
Butterflies, insects, and other pollinators also love them.
Scientists have linked the decline in bee populations to the eradication of clover, dandelions, and other plants mistakenly called “weeds.”
We don't need a four-leaf clover to bring us luck. We can consider ourselves very fortunate indeed to have so many ordinary clovers that play such an important role in the balance of nature.
