The restaurant space at Pavilion Robert-Middlemiss, formerly Le Bateau, is now ownerless and back in the hands of the City of Gatineau after the restaurant's recent closure. The restaurant's contract for the space expired this week, and action was planned to reappropriate the space for the city. “It opens the door to the next steps for the community to be able to reappropriate the space,” said Aylmer municipal councillor Vincent Roy.
The Pavilion Robert-Middlemiss is in a prime spot in Aylmer, with a beautiful location at the Aylmer Marina and right in the heart of Old Aylmer, where many residents find themselves during the summer.
The City of Gatineau has made it a priority to return the space to Aylmer residents as quickly as possible for a new project. “From now on, we can start to work on the next step so that we can give this space back to a resident or residents of Aylmer,’’ Roy told the Bulletin.
Roy urges the community to share their thoughts and ideas about the space's future and what they would like to see in the Pavilion Robert-Middlemiss. There will be more news and official announcements in the future about the space and the upcoming plans.
