Marine Charbonneau, a 16-year-old defenceman with the Olympiques de l’Outaouais M18 AAA, has received a $2,000 bursary from Fondation Aléo following a $24,000 donation from the Fonds d’études des Remparts de Québec to support female hockey players across the province.
The total amount funded 13 academic bursaries awarded to student-athletes competing in female hockey programs in Quebec. The contribution stems from profits generated by the 50/50 draw held during a Montreal Victoire game at the Centre Vidéotron on Jan. 19, 2025. The funds were formally presented ahead of a game earlier this month.
Fondation Aléo executive director Patricia Demers said the organization was pleased to have been selected by the players of the Victoire and thanked the Remparts for supporting the development of women’s sport. She noted that several Victoire players were former bursary recipients and described the gesture as meaningful for the next generation of athletes.
Charbonneau’s team finished first overall in the 2024–2025 regular season standings and captured a silver medal at the Coupe Chevrolet. She is in Secondary 5 at École polyvalente Nicolas-Gatineau in Gatineau.
Individually, Charbonneau is seeking to improve her offensive play to further contribute to her team’s performance.
