Old Aylmer packed with maple sugar lovers
Sophie Demers
This weekend residents gathered to experience the Aylmer sugar shack event that brought together activities, music and treats from various local businesses. Presented by APICA and the City of Gatineau, the event took place both Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27.
The event included the Great Canadian Lumberjacks show, paw patrol mascots, entertainers and storytellers. Local businesses on Principale, such as Bistro L’autre Oeil, Sérénithé, Marché Laflamme, Bistro Mexicana 129, Béatrice and chocolats, William J Walters, Beurre salé offered special food items.
The Auberge Symmes Inn Museum gave tours of the museum, the art galleries were open for residents to experience local art, and businesses such as 5e Baron offered maple flavoured beer and other treats.
A family activities area and a market with stalls from local businesses selling their products made the event perfect for all ages. The weekend was a welcome chance for residents to celebrate Old Aylmer and gather during the maple season.
