Aylmer’s basketball star is heading to Europe. In early August, the basketball club (BC) Zalgiris Kaunas, based in Lithuania, announced they signed the 22 year-old Olivier Hanlan to a one-year professional contract.
The second round Utah Jazz draft pick was unable to stand out during NBA summer play as he did during his illustrious college career with Boston College. In eight outings, the Aylmer-native averaged 4.1 points while as a Junior with Boston College he averaged an impressive 19.5 points.
As a result, making the Utah Jazz lineup was unlikely and the 6-foot-4 guard opted to head to the Euroleague to continue developing. Hanlan could return with the Jazz next season. BC Zalgiris Kaunas is one of the most celebrated basketball club in Europe with 36 titles.
