Outaouais Schools Recognized for Their Environmental Commitment

Several schools in the Outaouais region were honoured at the end of the school year as part of the Outaouais Eco-Citizen Schools 2025-2026 program, which aims to promote good environmental practices among young people.

The program, which concluded last month, allowed students and school staff to participate in a series of workshops on issues related to sustainable development, environmental protection, and the adoption of eco-responsible behaviours. Schools that completed all the planned activities received a certificate of recognition highlighting their commitment to environmental education.

This year, four schools distinguished themselves by earning the Outaouais Eco-Citizen School designation: École internationale du Mont-Bleu, École Jean-de-Brébeuf, École Monseigneur-Charboneau, and Polyvalente Le Carrefour – George-Étienne-Cartier building.

Program leaders commended the efforts of students, teachers, and school staff in integrating more sustainable practices into their school environment. They believe these initiatives help raise awareness among young people about environmental issues while fostering active citizenship.

Beyond the schools recognized this year, the organizers also thanked all the schools that participated in the program, highlighting their involvement in the various workshops and the actions implemented to improve their environmental practices. Through concrete projects, the participating schools contribute to promoting more environmentally friendly habits and encouraging a culture of sustainable development among students.

The Outaouais Eco-Citizen Schools program continues its mission to support schools in their environmental efforts and to promote initiatives that build more sustainable learning environments, while raising awareness among young people about the environmental challenges facing the community.
