Aylmer’s own Joseph Phan finished on the second highest step of the podium in the International Skating Union (ISU)’s Junior Grand Prix, held in Zagreb, Croatia, in late September.
“I’m super happy with my performance,’’ said Phan, who had skated with Aylmer’s Asticou Figure Skating Club. “I stayed focused throughout my long program and thought about one thing at a time.”
Phan finished the competition with 221.07 points, about 4 points behind gold medalist Alexei Krasnozhon of the USA.
Phan, who now skates for l’Ecole Excellence Rosemère, obtained 76.09 points for the Short Program where he danced to “The Best Is Yet to Come” by Michael Buble. His Best Score for the Free Skating was 144.98 points when he danced to the music of “The Godfather”.
Sixteen-year-old Phan is aspiring to compete in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
