---- Quebec's "green economy" in brief
I have not seen a clear statement in the media about Quebec's new plan for the coming Green Economy. This is a profound change coming! Here's what I have been able to find:
•1. Quebec’s new Green Economy Plan includes the following zero-emission vehicle commitments: a) a goal of 1.5 million electric vehicles on the road by 2030; b) No new gasoline-powered vehicles to be sold as of 2035; c) 55% of all city buses and 65% of school buses electrified by 2030; d) 100% of governmental cars, SUVs, vans and minivans and 25% of pickup trucks electrified by 2030; e) Strengthen Quebec's zero-emission vehicle standards.
2. Once the Quebec plan is implemented, 35% of Canada’s light-duty vehicle market will be under an internal combustion engine vehicle ban.
3. More than a dozen countries around the world have announced plans to phase out the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2050 or earlier.
4. In September 2020, California’s governor signed an executive order that all new passenger cars and light-duty trucks sold there must be zero-emission by 2035. S New York and New Jersey have set similar goals.
5. Canada has set light-duty zero-emission vehicle sales targets as follows: 10% of all sales by 2025, 30% by 2030, and 100% by 2040.
