Christmas in Old Aylmer will return from November 25 to December 4. The 9th edition of the Christmas market will take place outside around the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer - Cabaret La Basoche located at 120 rue Principale, over two weekends, November 25-27 and December 2-4.
The market will be open:
- Fridays, November 25 and December 2, from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Saturdays, November 26 and December 3, from 10 am to 8 pm.
Sundays, November 27 and December 4, from 10 am to 4 pm.
This year, the traditional Santa Claus parade will return on Saturday, November 26 at 6 pm. Aylmer residents can look forward to seeing many parade floats move along rue Principale between rue Front and Boul. Wilfrid-Lavigne.
“It’s a wonderful time for residents to gather and we welcome everyone from Gatineau to come and celebrate the holiday season with us,” said Steven Boivin, Aylmer Councillor. “It is wonderful to see volunteers, businesses and residents working together to create an exciting event in our beautiful sector.”
In 2021, the Christmas in Old Aylmer event welcomed over 31,000 people. This year, the event continues to grow with the addition of four new double cabins and more than 50 exhibitors, artisans, and food trucks.
President of the event, Mylène Deneault, announced several new additions to Christmas in Old Aylmer. As the event grows, several businesses on rue Principale will be welcoming exhibitors throughout the two event weekends.
There will be five musical performances entitled Christmas, Piano and Candlelight. The candlelight shows will take place in the Cabaret La Basoche at the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer. Tickets will be available on Eventbrite. There will also be an event-specific cookie recipe, created by La Femme à marier team, up for grabs so families and children can make cookies for Santa.
There will also be a Christmas tree lighting in front of the 5e Baron microbrewery on Friday November 25. The electric train will return to the market on the December 2 weekend.
Other new additions include mini photo shoot sessions for couples and families in collaboration with CJ Photography on the November 25 weekend and a free skating with Santa Claus activity for children on Saturday December 3 at 4:30 pm at the Duchesnay Arena.
