Shots fired at STO bus, no one injured
In the early morning of March 2, shots were fired at a Société de Transport de l'Outaouais (STO) bus in the Mont-Bleu neighbourhood. The bus was finishing its service when the incident occurred; there were no passengers and the driver was not injured. Gatineau police have launched an investigation.
Police were called to the STO facility to assess the damage to the bus at approximately 1:00 am. The bus was finishing its service when the incident occurred. The driver said he heard loud noises while driving near the intersection of Mont-Bleu and Cité-des-jeunes. He stopped the bus to check but did not notice anything unusual. It was not until he returned to the STO facilities that he realized the bus had been damaged. On examining the damage, police were able to conclude that it was caused by a firearm.
The police then set up a perimeter at the intersection of Mont-Bleu and Cité-des-Jeunes boulevards to protect the scene. Investigators and a crime scene technician were on the premises to analyze the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Gatineau police are asking any citizens with information about the incident to contact them at 819-243-4636, option 5.
