Stealing newsprint hurts
Need newsprint for fireplaces or compost? Don’t take a pile of new copies – come by the office instead, as we clean out old copies regularly. Creating the newspaper takes the team great effort and cost. There are people in the community who use extra newsprint for their pet cages, starting fires, and in their gardens and compost. We, at the Bulletin, encourage using our old copies for these purposes.
Using new, unread copies for these types of household use is not why the Bulletin publishes newspapers. Taking piles of the same edition to line the bottom of a pet cage or to start a fire is outright theft.
For folks who care about recycling and reusing: Please keep your newspapers clean and return them to the Bulletin office (even other newspapers, not produced by us). The Bulletin team offers more efficient ways to reuse than soiling copies in the blue bins, making the used newsprint un-recyclable.
Happy reading!
