The vernal equinox
We had a very special guest with us on March 20.
It arrived without fanfare or trumpets, but was greeted with great joy and trepidation. Even winter lovers rejoiced at his arrival. This is, of course, the vernal (spring) equinox, which marks the return of this beautiful season.
The equinox is a natural phenomenon linked to the Earth's position in relation to the Sun. At the equinox, the Sun is just above the equator, so both hemispheres of the Earth are equally lit, and the length of day is equal to the length of night.
Then the first signs of spring timidly begin to appear.
The days are getting longer, the sun is getting warmer, the snow is gradually melting and the temperature is rising. It's great to be outside, and you can already smell the first hints of the new season.
This year, the vernal equinox took place on March 20, at 5 :01 am.
