LETTER
Well done to local on-duty staff!
I was out with my pals at Chez Putters in les Galeries d’Aylmer late Tuesday, the 12th of October. While we were there, the on-duty bartender, Megan Donnolly, noticed a patron in distress with their head resting on the bar. Ms. Donnolly tried, unsuccessfully, to get a response out of the individual. She quickly called 911. Meanwhile, another customer suggested to the second bartender, André-Philippe Roy, that he fetch the A.E.D from the library. Mr. Roy returned with the device while Ms. Donnolly was describing the individual`s symptoms to the 911 operator. Mr. Roy and another client were making the individual, who had regained consciousness, comfortable while others customers were making room for the first responders. First on scene was the Aylmer fire department and the Gatineau police. The firemen took charge of the scene until the ambulance arrived, when the paramedics went to work and the patron was rushed to hospital.
It is comforting to live in a community where you are surrounded by caring service industry staff and emergency service persons. Bravo Megan, and M. Roy at Chez Putters as well as to the emergency service staff and paramedics.
