What’s new with Aylmer Businesses?
The summer means Aylmer is bustling with activities and the weather is perfect to explore what the expansive range of local businesses have to offer. Some residents may have noticed some changes and new editions popping up around Aylmer in the past few months. Here are some local business updates:
William J. Walter Saucissier moved a few doors down to 88 rue Principale earlier this year. They continue to offer over 60 varieties of sausages with a range of flavors. The business announced their new owner Alain Paradis on January 17th this year.
In early June, Les Pistoises also moved from their original location at 137A rue Principale to 105 rue Principale. The curated second-hand thrift store offers unique thrifted pieces and some products from local artisans and makers. Their previous location is currently vacant and available to rent.
Spazio Design Capillaire, a new hair salon, has opened at 104 rue Principale. They specialize in hair styles with certified colourists, along with professional makeup and barber services.
Galeries Aylmer also welcomed Marche des Moulins, a Middle Eastern grocery store. They offer a variety of Middle Eastern products, grocery items and spices.
Last August, Blade and Bourbon, a barber shop established in 2019, move to their new location at 86 rue Principale.
There also a newer barber in town. Garage du Barbier officially opened its door on July 22nd. They are located at 149 rue Principale unit B behind Café Mulligan. Their head barber Sean Stewart has been in the industry for nearly a decade.
La Fromentine Resto-Epicerie Africaine opened in January and is located in Place Lucerne at 200 rue Principale. They offer a wide variety of grocery items as well as ready-made food that has gotten rave reviews from residents.
Also in Place Lucerne is Marché JD, a West Indian, African and multi-ethnique grocery store.
Aylmer also welcomed a new tattoo shop, Boho Tattoo. Located in the Galeries Aylmer, there are currently three tattoo artists working at the shop. Additionally, there is a new buffet-style African restaurant in the Galeries Aylmer, Restaurant Buffet Sadelko. Galeries Aylmer is located at 181 rue Principale.
Jimmies Pizza has been sold to a new owner and will be moving on August 16 to 100 rue Principale from their old location at 10 rue Belmont. They will be offering take-out and delivery while they undergo interior renovations. They will soon have an updated menu for Aylmer food lovers to enjoy.
Another new restaurant will open in Aylmer. Gin et Chips, a new seafood and fish and chips restaurant, will soon welcome residents at 11 rue Front.
Nearby at 22 Principale, La Femme à Marier & cie, a catering business and café, offers a variety of prepared meals as well as a café with a variety of products to enjoy on site.
In addition to the variety of local businesses, the Marché du Vieux-Aylmer contributes to the diversity of business offerings in Aylmer. The market takes place from June 4 to October 1 every Sunday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Parc Commémoratif, 117 rue Principale.
