Work has officially begun for a new primary school in Aylmer
The groundbreaking ceremony for primary school 037 took place on February 27, to celebrate the beginning of the construction of the school. The school is located at the intersection of de l'Aigle and du Golf streets.
The school will have 32 pre-school and elementary level classrooms, three daycare facilities, a triple gymnasium, a multipurpose room, a learning hub, and an administrative space.
The Ministry of Education has allocated $46,284,925 to support the project. The school will have a capacity of 650 students and is set to welcome its students in 2025-2026. As of February 27, 6% of the work has been completed on the project. The contract for the construction of the school was awarded to Boless General Contractor Inc.
Minister of Education Bernard Drainville was in attendance, along with Gatineau Mayor France Bélisle, MNA for Hull Suzanne Tremblay, MNA Pontiac André Fortin, and Director General of Centre de services scolaire des Portages-de-l’Outaouais (CSSPO) Nadine Peterson. Lucerne Councillor Gilles Chagnon and Aylmer Councillor Steven Boivin also participated in the event.
